The story:
1 - The Gravedigger
The gravedigger digs little homes for the dead. He makes them all comfy in their little dirt beds. Then, upon seeing his own name on the gravestone, he wonders whose grave he had been digging.
2 - Do You Hear Me?
The gravedigger goes home to his wife. He calls out to her, but her eyes stare right through his face.
3 - Help Me, Mom and Dad
His Mom and Dad were always there for him when he was a child. They were the source of his first hopes, and now they are his last hope. They have to bring him home!
4 - Denial, The 4 Stages of Acceptance Part I
When all seems too much to believe, then that belief must be questioned. None of this can be happening. It's just a dream! It's just a dream! It has to be.
5 - Resistance, The 4 Stages of Acceptance Part II
Time to fight. Time to resist. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Crush them! Squeeze them! Break them! Tease them! Send them back to where they came from!
6 - Resolution, The 4 Stages of Acceptance Part III
The gravedigger has come to accept that he is no longer among the living. The fight has left him. It is time to accept that what's done is done, what's past is past, what is shall be, the die is cast.
7 - Restitution, The 4 Stages of Acceptance Part IV
Thinking back on things left undone and unsaid, the gravedigger makes restitution in a postmortal attempt to tie up the loose ends of his life.
8 - I Can Fly!
Hey - being dead ain't all bad!
9 - Waltz of the Ghosts
On every hundredth year, the ghosts begin to appear. They waltz around the headstones with grace. The girls dressed in satin and lace. The gravedigger is pleased to make the acquaintance of one of them, Sarah Ann, who died in 1610.
10 - Sarah's Song
An istrumental homage to Sarah, who went back to the ground...
11 - Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
Having been dead longer than he was alive, the gravedigger's wandering comes to an end.
12 - The Gravedigger Reprise/It Was a Such a Good Life
A simple epitaph.
